About Birman Welfare and Rescue
Please go to "Our Cats " for details of Birmans looking for their forever homes.
Birman Welfare and Rescue is one of the largest pedigree rescue organisations in the Cat Fancy and a Registered Charity.
Registered Charity Number 1123174
We are proud to have been awarded the
"BEST RESCUE AWARD"
by the GCCF for a second time in May 2016. We were not allowed to enter in 2015 due to winning the previous year but were back in the line up in 2016 and won the award once again. This award is no longer carried out by the GCCF but we are delighted to be the only Rescue to have been awarded it twice.
We have safehouse's across the United Kingdom for the cats in our care, which are cared for by a dedicated team of volunteers. Our safehouse holders are chosen very carefully. We only place a dedicated safehouse where there is no other rescue safehouse, this ensures they have the time to dedicate special care to some of our more needy cats.
Genuine offers of homes are always needed and single cat homes are often required, especially for older cats whose devoted owner may have died or for health reasons are no longer able to care for their beloved Birman.
These cats have so much love to give and their average age tends to be between 6 - 10 years, which is not considered old for a Birman.
Abandoned or lost Birmans are also cared for while we try and find their owner or for a thoroughly vetted home.
All cats are neutered and micro chipped before leaving our care, vaccinations are brought up to date if required.
Occasionally we have younger Birmans but very rarely kittens as these are usually returned to their breeder where possible.

The Safe Houses
We have a network of Safe houses throughout the UK, where our rescue Birmans can feel safe whilst they recover; or they can stay as a "hotel guest" whilst we check out their new home!
Nothing but 5* accommodation is good enough for our precious cats and they get just that with our dedicated foster carers.
Each safe house has a fully lined and insulated living compartment which is equipped with a heated bed, platform scales and a microchip scanner.
This has all been made possible thanks to donations and fundraising.
Thank you to everyone who helps make this possible and for caring enough to make a difference
